#WHM2019: Katanya Raby

Katanya Raby’s idea to feature black urbanists for Black History Month has inspired MUSE to honor Women’s History Month by highlighting some of the Chicago region’s countless female practitioners working and making a difference in urban planning and related fields.

Urbanist, artist, drone pilot & lifelong Chicagoan, Katanya Raby co-founded the Society of Black Urban Planners, and was the 2017 recipient of APA-IL’s Emerging Planner award. An Associate Planner at the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning she was instrumental in developing CMAP’s ON TO 2050 regional plan & leads the agency’s youth leadership program, FLIP. Grand-daughter of Chicago civil rights icon Al Raby, she is a champion for equity, inclusion, and #BlackGirlMagic.
