MEET COURTNEY

Courtney has worked nationally and internationally in the areas of land use, zoning, economic development, and historic preservation, leading planning processes in more than 24 cities, in six states, and on two continents. She has more than 20 years of planning experience and founded MUSE Community + Design in 2014. She leads a team of planners, designers, and strategists to create equity-centered plans, policies, and partnerships needed to bring about meaningful change in the built environment.

Courtney is a past president of the American Planning Association – Illinois Chapter and the Lambda Alpha International Chicago Region, a multi-disciplinary land economics society. She is the former host of APA’s podcast The People Behind the Plans and a frequent guest lecturer at colleges and universities.

Courtney holds a Master of Urban Planning & Policy degree from University of Illinois Chicago and a Bachelor of Art in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She studied abroad at the University of Sheffield (UK) in their Town and Regional Planning program. Courtney is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and a certified charrette facilitator.
