Syd Swift (she/her) is a planner who strives to create a built environment that is safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all people. Her interest in sustainability and climate resiliency is at the core of her endeavors, specifically as it relates to urban mobility systems. 

Syd was formerly a Planning Intern with the City of Milwaukee’s Department of City Development, where she assisted with zoning research, planning administration, development review, and supporting the City Plan Commission. As a graduate student, she focused on active transportation and urban design through research and applied projects. Before becoming a planner, Syd gained experience in residential architecture and design in the Twin Cities.

Syd holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She was a leader of the Milwaukee Student Planning Association and was selected as the APA-Wisconsin Outstanding Student of 2023.
