Mayor Lightfoot Holds Vision Zero West Side Press Conference

The MUSE team spent much of last summer building relationships, doing outreach for, and planning engagement activities across North Lawndale, Austin, and Garfield Park for our work with Vision Zero Chicago. We educated residents, empowered local advocates, and worked to overcome the barrier of transportation jargon, because we know that while the issues of transportation and mobility can be complex and wonky, they in fact matter to everyone and are a relatively easy way to boost equity on the West Side and beyond.

Today, the Mayor held a press conference in East Garfield Park where she renewed her commitment to Vision Zero and announced $6 million to implement some of the recommendations in the West Side Plan our team helped create and the cover of which is adorned with graphics we made of local landmarks! Stay tuned for this document’s release and for more traffic calming and safety improvements across the West Side.
